Job Description


The branch
This Assistant Director General (ADG) position is part of ONI's senior leadership team and is responsible for leading the branch undertaking analysis of political and economic developments in Europe, the Americas, Africa, the Koreas and Japan and their relationship to broader global issues.

Role description
As ADG you will lead a team of approximately 8 staff to undertake analysis of country-specific, regional and thematic political and economic issues relating to Europe, the Americas, Africa, the Koreas and Japan. You will help support ONI outreach to the business, academic and think tank communities. And you will contribute to broader leadership of ONI, including in managing relations across the NIC.

Role suitability
You will be highly suited to this role if you are a productive and effective leader. You will have strong management experience and will enjoy working collaboratively with your staff to develop and shape quality ONI product. You will engage with analysts across the office to oversee the production of analysis that integrates economic, political, and strategic perspectives.
You will enjoy networking and using your interpersonal and representational skills to effectively increase ONI's outreach into the business, academic and think-tank communities.



You must be an Australian citizen and you must be willing to undergo a security clearance check.
You will be asked to provide evidence of your Australian citizenship and we must be able to verify, from independent and reliable sources, [cumulative] periods of 12 months or more that you may have spent outside Australia.
