The Positions
AHL is seeking to engage a highly motivated team member who can fill the position of Weekend Cook in our Hostel in Adelaide. The vacancy is available for immediate filling, and we are also seeking to create a merit list for filling future vacancies and to establish a pool of on-call casual employees who are available to work at short notice.

You will work under the general direction of the Hostel Manager and Assistant Hostel Manager and will be responsible for working in collaboration with other hostel workers on a daily basis, ensuring a high standard of service is delivered to our residents.

We are looking for people who:
• are experience in commercial cookery and meal preparation in an industry based environment, ensuring the safe production of quality food without compromise to Food Safety Standards Australia
• have the ability to manage stock rotation while ensuring timely service and hygiene of cooking equipment.
• have a good understanding of cleanliness and health standards required whilst preparing food at the work station.
• are committed to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
• have a strong focus on customer service, with the ability to communicate effectively, and work in a team environment
• are in good physical health and can walk, lift and carry, and who can work to a flexible schedule


•Provide proof of Australian citizenship
•Undergo a satisfactory National Criminal History Check (prior to engagement)
•Meet fitness for duty requirements (prior to engagement)
•Satisfactorily complete a six month probationary period (once employed).



Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term

Non-ongoing employment may be offered for up to 18 Months with the possibility of extension.
Ongoing employment may be offered within Twelve Months of this ad.
