About the ACCC:

The ACCC is an independent statutory authority that administers the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other Acts and we regulate national infrastructure industries to promote effective competition.

Over the next few years, the ACCC is expected to grow and develop as a modern regulator and this role offers an exciting opportunity to manage the Consumer Data Right (CDR) Branch to deliver services that align with CDR’s Division strategy and goals.

We are a non-corporate Commonwealth entity that includes the Australian Energy Regulator (AER). The AER is responsible for the economic regulation of the energy market and reports to a separate statutory board.

About the Consumer Data Right (CDR) branch:

The ACCC is responsible for the implementation and roll out of the Consumer Data Right (CDR) framework that will improve how consumers transfer their data between providers so they can compare and switch between products and services. It will also encourage competition between providers, leading not only to better prices for consumers but also more innovative products and services.

The CDR implementation will be rolled out sector-by-sector across the economy, starting with the banking sector and followed by energy and telecommunications sectors and ultimately to the whole Australian economy.

Amongst other responsibilities, our successful applicant will:

• Oversee the Branch’s functions and business of the Branch with expectation of approximately 25 staff.
• Manage and oversee the Operations and Technology Delivery teams and act as the primary escalation point for urgent, complex or highly sensitive operational or technological issues.
• Lead the investigation and identification of opportunities for changes and enhancements in delivery of existing services, or development of additional services.
• Drive the implementation and delivery and of new systems, technologies and services to deliver ICT solutions that achieve business requirements.
• Manage an expected Branch budget of over $20 million, primarily for capital expenditure.
