Job Description

Duties

ASIS has multiple vacancies for Assistant Director-General, Technologists covering Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) related functions. The Assistant Director-General, Technologists, Innovation and Enabling Division will make a major contribution to the management and leadership of ASIS, the Australian Government’s unique provider of human intelligence services. The successful applicants will provide strategic leadership to critical Branches of ASIS that are responsible for defining and delivering ASIS’s technology strategy; providing secure and reliable ICT service delivery in an operational environment; developing and delivering new technology solutions; driving innovation and change management; supporting a combination of operational and corporate functions; and adhering to government and legislative requirements.

The positions require experienced, committed and highly-skilled individuals with a demonstrated track record of leading a diverse and complex program of ICT activities in a demanding and high pressure environment. They will also have significant experience building and sustaining senior-level professional relationships and a proven ability to attract, lead and motivate staff. These positions report directly to the First Assistant Director-General Innovation and Enabling Capability Division.

The Assistant Director-General, Technologists, Innovation and Enabling Division will join the senior management team with a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively, anticipate opportunities, encourage creativity and innovation, resolve complex issues, manage and implement major technological projects and provide outstanding strategic direction and leadership across the Branches and the Service.

Communication skills of the highest order are an essential requirement, as is the ability to operate in accordance with – and actively promote - ASIS’s values and ethical standards. Given the nature of ASIS’s work, effective and efficient management of our technical, operational support and enterprise functions is fundamental to the success of the Service in delivering its unique product for the Australian Government.
