Job Description

Duties


The Department of the Environment and Energy is seeking a Senior Executive in the role of Chief Economist.

As Chief Economist, you will lead the Economics and Analysis Branch to provide centralised expertise on economics, behaviour change, analysis and energy statistics and markets.

You will need highly developed skills and competencies aligning with the APS selection criteria, as well as substantial experience in applied economic research and market analysis.

The Department of the Environment and Energy designs and implements Australian Government policy and programs to protect and conserve the environment, water and heritage, promote climate action and provide adequate, reliable and affordable energy. The Policy Analysis and Implementation Division (PAID) forms part of the Strategy and Operations Group to support best practice policy development and implementation across the Department.

Demonstrated experience as a professional economist is required.

A tertiary qualification in economics is highly desirable.

 

Eligibility


The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.
