Duties


This position will lead a small team and work in collaboration with the Program Director to manage the delivery on primary care strategies as part of the National Standards team’s commitments to:

• Develop strategies, standards and tools to improve safety and quality in primary care
• Develop implementation resources for primary safety and quality standards and communication strategies to generate engagement.

Position responsibilities will include:

1. Coordinate the Commission’s development of a multi-strategy safety and quality program for primary care, including taking day to day lead on the development of safety and quality standards for primary care providers
2. Manage a small team to achieve the deliverables for this program
3. Work collaboratively with primary care organisations and providers, national agencies, expert groups, associations and professional bodies in the development of primary care safety and quality standards
4. Work collaboratively with primary care organisations and providers, national agencies, expert groups, associations and professional bodies on the development of safety and quality strategies for primary care
5. Establish and manage project reference groups, and undertake project management activities
6. Work through relevant Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council (AHMAC) principal and sub-committees in the preparation and presentation of Commission papers
7. Provide secretariat support and participate in the work of expert working groups or workshops convened for the development of national arrangements for primary care initiatives and National standards projects.
 

Eligibility



• Tertiary qualification in relevant area
• Extensive project or policy experience, preferably at a national or state/territory level
• Extensive knowledge of the Australian healthcare system and the operation of national accreditation schemes
• Knowledge of the primary care sector and safety and quality of care concepts
• Experience working in the primary care sector would be an advantage.
