Job Description

The Great Barrier Reef is an iconic World Heritage site and is the largest coral reef ecosystem on the planet. It is a precious national asset, supporting 64,000 jobs and providing $6.4 billion annually to the Australian economy.

The Authority Board is a statutory board overseeing the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, which employs approximately 220 staff. It operates in the context of complex challenges facing the Reef which increasingly transcend the Marine Park's boundaries and have cross-jurisdictional, national and international dimensions.

The Australian Government is seeking expressions of interest from experienced, collaborative board members. Expertise in natural resource / parks management, business / industry, or strategic management is currently desirable, and an understanding of the Australian Public Service operating environment is an advantage. Legislative requirements also apply.

This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction for management of the Great Barrier Reef and build on a proud history of leadership and innovation.
