Duties


At the ATO, you’ll do work that makes a real difference to the lives of Australians and that contributes to their economic and social wellbeing.

As the Assistant Commissioner, Public Affairs, you’ll lead and deliver complex, technical or sensitive work programs that have strategic and/or operational significance to the ATO. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the ATO’s reputation in the community through the management of proactive and reactive, traditional and social media strategies. You’ll use your strong government relations skills to lead the parliamentary services team in providing guidance and advice to senior staff across the organisation, Treasury portfolio Ministers and their advisers on behalf of the ATO.

You will lead corporate internal communication to deliver high quality and engaging enterprise-wide communication. Working closely with the ATO Executive, you will provide direct support to the Commissioner on external speeches, communication to all staff, media events, parliamentary hearings and the community impact of the wider ATO program work.

> Demonstrates excellent stakeholder relationship skills and the ability to work collaboratively and under pressure to provide an exceptional client experience and deliver contemporary, professional and efficient outcomes.
> Is an exceptional leader in the field of communication with experience in leading and delivering media, public relations, or marketing communications strategies, and writing services for executives.

The role will be offered as an ongoing or non-ongoing opportunity in Canberra. The successful candidate will be appointed for a period of three to five years and will be subject to a probation period of nine months.

We offer a competitive total remuneration package (including allowances and superannuation) in the range of $230,246 to $266,374 per annum, depending on experience.
