Duties


Overview of the position
The Commission’s Safety & Quality Improvement Systems & Intergovernmental Relations (SQIS & IGR) team are seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced person to contribute to its work program. The Commission’s Safety and Quality Improvement Systems unit is responsible for facilitating the meaningful use of health data nationally. The Commission undertakes a range of projects to support the meaningful use of data to improve care for patients and the efficiency for the health system. These projects aim to support the feedback of safety and quality data to multiple levels of the health system including consumers, clinicians, administrators and funders.

This position will lead a small team to manage the delivery of the SQIS & IGR team’s program of work to facilitate the maintenance and development of health care measurement and indicators to support local safety and quality improvement.

The successful applicant will manage and supervise content work relating to:
• Healthcare associated infection data set specifications and development of benchmarks;
• Implementation of the Australian Hospital Patient Experience Question Set used to evaluate patient experience;
• Development of a national strategy to assist severe incident monitoring;
• Development and implementation of patient reported outcome measures (PROMs);
• Identification and implementation of a survey to measure patient safety from the staff perspective;
• Development, maintenance and implementation of clinical care standard indicators;
• Maintenance and implementation support of the Australian Sentinel events list (version2);
• Development and review of maternal, neonatal, paediatrics safety and quality indicators.



 

Eligibility


• Tertiary qualification in relevant area with an understanding of and experience in the Australian health system
• Experience in management of healthcare programs, health services research, and data-driven quality improvement projects
• Demonstrated ability and experience in providing strategic leadership to an effective policy-focused team
• Advanced specialist knowledge of healthcare stakeholders and relevant interest groups
• Extensive knowledge of the Australian health care system, including jurisdictional and national policy and arrangements, with a focus on health data and information.

Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term

Non-ongoing employment for period of 12 months, with possibility of becoming ongoing during this period.
