Job Description

Duties


In consultation with the AFP Organisational Health’s Interdisciplinary Team, the Operational Health Support Registered Nurse provides specialised health advice and assessment to support AFP members and operational requirements.

The successful applicants will assess, advise and implement health strategies to enable AFP operations. This results in a reduced risk to the individual and the organisation.

The successful applicants will be required to:

- Review and quality control medical reports, pathology, vaccination history, medical assessments and other clinical data.
- Review and quality control pre-employment medical assessments for sworn policing roles.
- Input data entry of relevant clinical information into AFP electronic medical record systems.
- Quality control medical risk assessments and provide advice for AFP Members and accompanying dependants scheduled for international deployments/postings.
- Assist with the coordination of post deployment medical assessments.
- Liaise with contracted External Health providers to support timely and quality assessment and reporting.
- Assist with the review and refinement of existing policies and procedures.
- Provide health recommendations within scope of practice.
- Assist with other duties as required to support the functions of the Medical Services team.
 

Eligibility


- Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration as a General Registered Nurse.
- Post graduate qualifications and/or a minimum of 5 years recent experience in - Occupational Health, Public Health or Travel Medicine.
- Immunisation qualification and/or experience.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clerance or the ability to obtain one.

National or International travel may be required.

This is a non-ongoing opportunity for 2 years with options of 1 year plus a further 1 year extension
