Duties


Aboriginal Hostel Limited's (AHL's) purpose is to provide culturally safe, fit-for-purpose, affordable accommodation for Indigenous Australians who need to be away from home to access employment opportunities, health, education and other essential services.

AHL operates nine Secondary Education hostels across Australia for youth aged 12-18 years requiring access to a secondary education (school years 7-12). Accommodation is provided for students who are accepted into schools that are located within the hostel catchment area.

An exciting opportunity is available for passionate and experienced individual who can fill the role of Head of Boarding in our hostel located in Wadeye NT. The position is available for immediate filling and we are also seeking to establish a merit pool for future vacancies that may arise over the next 12 months.

Eligibility


To be eligible for engagement (and continuing employment) with AHL, applicants must meet AHL’s requirements for the following conditions:

- Hold Australian Citizenship;
- Obtain a NT Working with Children’s Check
- Satisfactory National Criminal History Check
- Satisfactory Medical Assessment
- Satisfactorily complete a Probation period.

Additionally, all applicants must hold (or be willing to obtain) the following qualifications:

- Certificate IV in Community Services – Student Residential Care (or equivalent)
- First Aid Certificate
- Bus Licence for light-rigid vehicles (up to 25 seats).

A Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for 6-12 months initially, with the possibility of extension.
