The NIAA is a newly established agency, which leads and coordinates the Australian Government’s policy design, implementation and service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We are looking for talented leaders to fill the following SES Band 1 vacancies:
• Branch Manager, Grant Design
• Regional Manager, Arnhem Land Groote Eylandt
• Regional Manager, Central Australia
• Regional Manager, Victoria/Tasmania
A merit list will also be established to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

The NIAA is seeking experienced and inspiring senior leaders from the public, private and/or community sectors to join the leadership team.

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to provide strategic and operational leadership not only in the relevant business area, but collectively across the Agency. They will be able to describe how they have actively build effective, robust and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and how they would use their skills to support the Agency’s internal and external agendas to lead and deliver on the Agency’s organisational change program and meet the Government’s objectives.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in leading teams in developing innovative strategies and approaches with strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence organisational outcomes. They will have a proven record of working collaboratively with peers (internal and external). They will also be innovative, consultative, resilient and personally accountable for the quality of advice and the delivery of results.

Our ideal candidate will need to be able to demonstrate dynamic leadership capability and have excellent people management skills. In particular, they will be adaptable to change and be confident in driving and embedding new approaches and initiatives.

WHS Advice:
The occupant of these positions are considered an Officer under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and is required to exercise due diligence in complying with their obligations under this Act.

Delegation Advice:
Occupants would be required to exercise the appropriate powers, authority, delegations and discretions under the relevant legislation including the Public Service Act 1999 and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
