Job Description


The Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP) was established under the Director of Public Prosecutions Act 1983 (the DPP Act) as an independent national prosecuting service .The CDPP is headed by the Director, Ms Sarah McNaughton SC.
The CDPP contributes to public confidence in the criminal justice system by ensuring that prosecutions are conducted fairly, consistently and efficiently in accordance with the Prosecution Policy of the Commonwealth.

The Chief Corporate Officer (CCO) is a member of the CDPP Executive Leadership Group, and is accountable for the provision of corporate services and administrative support activities for the Director, the Commonwealth Solicitor, the CDPP’s National Practice Groups and the broader agency.

The CCO is accountable for the overall strategic direction, leadership and management of the Corporate Services Group including the following functions;

• People, Financial and ICT strategy, advice and services;
• Strategic planning, governance, audit and risk;
• Security, property and office services; and
• Communication and engagement.

The successful applicant will:

- be responsible for all aspects of the management of the Group, providing leadership, managing performance and ensuring the wellbeing of staff;
- identify and champion change, make clear and timely decisions and communicate direction to all levels, creating a sense of purpose and contributing to CDPP’s objectives and strategic direction;
- be outcomes focused, initiating, implementing, managing and evaluating activities related to the delivery and improvement of corporate services;
- liaise effectively at a national level, building and maintaining strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as professionally representing CDPP at interagency forums, and conferences. This will include providing advice on emerging corporate issues on behalf of the CDPP and representing the Director and Practice Group leaders at ministerial and government level;
- model and promote the APS code of conduct and CDPP values and behaviours; and
- assist in the learning and development of Corporate Services by mentoring staff and modelling appropriate behaviours, as well as contributing to more formal training and development activities as required.



To be eligible for employment with the CDPP, applicants must be Australian citizens. In accordance with the CDPP Security Policy, the successful applicant will be required to successfully complete a security check prior to commencement. Successful applicants will have, or will need to acquire, a security clearance at the Negative Vetting 2 level. The security clearance will be required to be maintained for the duration of employment with the CDPP.
