Job Description


The Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated and high performing senior adviser to lead our behavioural design team. A passion for understanding human behaviour and putting it at the heart of government policies and services is essential.

We are the Behavioural Economics Team of the Australian Government, or BETA for short. We are one of a growing number of teams around the world applying cutting edge research from psychology and behavioural economics to deliver better public services.

We take the time to:

• understand how people make decisions;
• develop innovative ideas for solving problems;
• and test what works best in the real world.

As Senior Adviser you will lead a diverse team of psychologists, economists, policy practitioners and design experts. Your team will be responsible for leading projects on a broad range of issues, such as education, financial decision-making and cyber security. You will work collaboratively with agencies across the public service and draw on expertise from academia and the private sector to deliver high quality advice and research. You will be working in a team that values different skills and new ideas and strives for impact.

To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application.

The occupant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline level security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.



Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term

This role is expected to be filled on a non-ongoing basis for an initial period of 8 months with possibility of extension or permanency.
