Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL)
AHL’s purpose is to provide culturally safe, fit-for-purpose, affordable accommodation for Indigenous Australians who need to be away from home to access employment opportunities, health, education and other essential services.

AHL operates nine Secondary Education hostels across Australia for youth aged 12-18 years requiring access to a secondary education (school years 7-12). Accommodation is provided for students who are accepted into schools that are located within the hostel catchment area.

The Position:
AHL is seeking to engage suitably qualified and experienced people who can fill critical roles in our Secondary Education Hostels located in Tennant Creek. Positions are available for immediate filling and we are also seeking to establish a merit pool for future vacancies that may arise over the next 12 months. In addition, AHL will be establishing a casual pool of employees available for employment to provide backup arrangements for staff on leave. A summary of the positions is as follows:

To be eligible for engagement (and continuing employment) with AHL, applicants must meet AHL’s requirements for the following conditions:

- Hold Australian citizenship;
- Obtain a Working with Children’s Check in the relevant state
- Satisfactory National Criminal History Check
- Satisfactory Medical Assessment
- Satisfactorily complete a Probation period.

Additionally, all applicants must hold (or be willing to obtain) the following qualifications:

- Certificate IV in Community Services – Student Residential Care (or equivalent)
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Bus Licence for light-rigid vehicles (up to 25 seats).


Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term

A Non-ongoing opportunity may be offered for up to 18 months with the possibility of extension. An ongoing opportunity may be offered within the first 12 months of employment.
