We are looking for a highly influential senior leader to play an important role in contributing to the overall strategic direction of the Service Delivery Group and more broadly, the ATO.

As a member of the Service Delivery executive team, you’ll have direct responsibility for managing the ATO’s debt book (approximately $23b). You’ll also lead a large team of around 3,000 people focused on driving an innovative service model that considers the design, delivery and management of current and future client interactions; with a particular focus on digital delivery.

As the principal and authoritative source of advice in debt and lodgment, you’ll provide expert advice to the ATO Executive and/or Ministers and liaise with external stakeholders domestically and internationally.

You’ll lead and oversee engagement; working collaboratively with senior stakeholders within and outside the organisation, which may include large, influential businesses, external legal and accounting professionals and representatives from other government agencies. Within the ATO you’ll significantly influence the outcomes of complex issues that can have a wide impact internally and externally.

Proactively you’ll develop productive working relationships across the broader APS and actively engage, inform and advise a diverse range of major stakeholders about various complex issues.

Our ideal candidate

> is a strong, influential leader with a substantial record of achievement in implementing and delivering complex work programs in challenging and fast paced environments
> demonstrates an understanding of Australia’s tax and superannuation systems and a passion for improving the way the community interact with the ATO
> will assess environmental factors, identify relationships between complex issues and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks to the achievement of government priorities
> has excellent relationship management skills including the ability to engage and work collaboratively with a large and diverse network of clients and stakeholders to influence outcomes and provide an exceptional client experience
> has qualifications in taxation, law, accounting, business or a related field
> leads by example and embodies our cultural traits.

This role may be offered as full time or part time on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis in the following locations; Adelaide, Brisbane CBD, Canberra, Melbourne CBD, Parramatta, Perth or Sydney CBD.

We offer a competitive total remuneration package (including allowances and superannuation) in the range of $291,288 to $329,585 per annum, depending on experience.

We offer rewarding careers for professionals with access to learning and development and a collaborative and supportive culture.
