Job Description


The Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) promotes an improved workplace relations framework in Australia’s building and construction industry. Our goal is to ensure that employers and employees covered by this framework can work fairly, efficiently and productively. Key laws we work with are the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) Act 2016 (BCIIP Act), the Fair Work Act 2009 (Fair Work Act), the Building Code 2013, the Code for the Tendering and Performance of Building Work 2016 (Building Code 2016) and other workplace relations laws relating to the building and construction industry.

The successful candidate will be part of a small team based in responsible for delivering legal services to their Regional site, as well as contributing to the ABCC’s national legal practice.

These services include providing legal advice and assistance to the ABCC Inspectors during the course of their investigations. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the timely legal advice on briefs of evidence and the ongoing management of matters commenced in relevant courts and tribunals.


Australian citizenship is required for employment at the ABCC.

To be eligible for employment all preferred candidates are required to undergo pre-employment screening. Screening checks include character, security and health clearances. Some positions may require additional checks to be performed and require a security clearance.
