Job Description

ASIS is Australia’s overseas secret intelligence collection agency. Its mission is to protect and promote Australia’s vital interests through the provision of intelligence services as directed by the Government. Its work can involve collecting intelligence in relation to national security, international relations and economic issues. It also contributes to Australia’s coordinated national efforts against terrorism, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and transnational issues such as people smuggling.

As an electronics technician, technician, machinist or textiles you would be working with other engineers and technicians to design, build, test, integrate, and troubleshoot customised electrical systems. You would be working on a combination of short term development and integration, longer term research and developments, and short manufacturing runs.

The position is based in a workshop environment within a mixed team of electrical, mechanical, textiles and software engineers and technicians who you would be working with to turn developments into tested and practical solutions. Because of the size of the team, you would be expected to both maintain your core skillset as an electronics technician and also to develop your skills outside of your core area. You would have an interest in personal development and this would be encouraged and supported.

Education, qualification and experience requirements:
The following education, qualifications and/or experience are essential:
A Certificate III in an electronics, mechanical or textiles discipline or demonstrated similar experience;
At least 3 years on the job experience in an electronics discipline;
Experience in building, testing, and operation of electrical systems; and
The ability to maintain subject matter expertise and to rapidly acquire expertise in relevant technologies and fields;

These positions have conditions of service similar to those in the Australian Public Service, including superannuation.

Citizenship: To be eligible for engagement, applicants must be Australian citizens.

Security Assessment: The successful applicant will be required to undergo and maintain a high level Security Clearance.

Please Note: ASIS does not provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
