Job Description

Duties


The Directorate of Operations and Training Area Management (DOTAM) is seeking an Assistant Director Training Area Sustainability who has a high level of communication and negotiation skills; technical skill, thinks strategically, has a flexible approach to problem solving and will display initiative and drive to achieve training area sustainability outcomes for the Directorate.

The DOTAM operates and coordinates the day-to-day operations of Defence training areas across Australia, including related products and services, and contributes to the development of the Defence training area estate. The Assistant Director Training Area Sustainability is embedded within the Directorate to ensure environmental sustainability requirements are incorporated into the operation and development of training areas whilst enabling Defence to achieve its operational requirements and training outcomes.

Duties will include providing national level advice to Defence training area staff and external stakeholders on a broad range of complex environmental legislation, regulation and policy. You will be expected to be able to negotiate to resolve issues regarding compliance with environmental plans and manage impacts on the environmental management of training areas. There will be a requirement to travel infrequently within Australia.

 

Eligibility


Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at ‘Negative Vetting Level 1’.
