Duties


Applications are being sought to fill a Senior Policy Officer position within the Partnering with Consumers team. This position works closely with the Director, Partnering with Consumers and will work closely with the Senior Nursing Advisor, Comprehensive Care by taking a clinical and policy lead on aspects of the Commission’s work on the Comprehensive care, Recognising and responding to acute deterioration and End-of-life care programs.

This Senior Policy Officer role requires a combination of strong and relevant clinical experience, and policy and program management expertise.

Position duties and responsibilities
1. Reviewing and analysing key safety and quality issues through literature, websites and other published material.
2. Consulting with a broad range of experts and stakeholders including coordination of formal and informal consultation processes, to achieve the objectives of the program.
3. Preparing complex written documents including briefs, discussion papers and guidance for a range of audiences to a high standard.
4. Investigating and keeping current knowledge of strategic and clinical issues relating to the program areas and considering how they can be addressed by the Commission.
5. Participating in and presenting to committee meetings, forums and workshops on relevant topics.
6. Undertaking project management activities including project planning and documentation, implementation, monitoring and reporting on progress of the project; providing recommendations about managing risk, identifying problems and proposing possible solutions.
7. Providing clinical advice and perspectives on key policy issues for the program, and work closely with clinicians to integrate their views into strategic direction.
8. Keeping the Director informed about progress on projects, and strategic implications.

 

Eligibility


Clinical qualifications and relevant experience essential.
Experience in multidisciplinary teamwork, person-centred care, end-of-life care, clinical communications, quality improvement in acute health care, and/or recognising and responding to acute deterioration.
