Job Description


The ACMA is seeking experienced and talented executives with a strong record of achievement, and an ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, to provide high level leadership, strategic insight and direction, program delivery and advice across numerous Branches and more broadly across the ACMA.

We are seeking to fill a number of positions across the Agency and will establish a merit pool that may be used to fill other roles as they become available within the following 12-month period. We are looking for people who have broad experience in a regulatory environment, communications infrastructure planning, corporate services, or communications. Current vacancies include:

• Executive Manager (Pn 1806) - Research, Data & Regulation Branch
• Executive Manager (Pn 730) - People, Communications & Governance Branch
• Executive Manager (Pn 291) - Spectrum Allocations Branch

As an Executive Manager at the ACMA you will lead a diverse and highly motivated team by developing the skills of your people, setting the strategic direction and providing the most effective and efficient use of human, financial, physical and information resources in your Branch.

You must be a strong problem solver and be able to negotiate and build strong working relationships across the Agency, other public sector agencies and industry to ensure the ACMA is positioned strongly and regarded as an effective and trusted regulator. You will also influence the strategic direction of the Agency by working collaboratively with the ACMA’s senior executive group.

To be successful for these roles you should be able to demonstrate the following:
- a record of achievement and excellence in a leadership role;
- stakeholder engagement skills, particularly in managing and influencing complex and diverse stakeholders successfully in contested policy and regulatory environments;
- the ability to work across diverse and contemporary issues and collaborate within and across organisations to deliver timely outcomes;
- a broad understanding of global and domestic issues in the media and communications environment and the opportunities and challenges that these present; and
- the ability to foster and maintain a high performing and collaborative team including through periods of complex change.



To be eligible for ongoing employment with the ACMA, applicants must be an Australian citizen.

An applicant's suitability for employment with the ACMA will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process will include a requirement for the applicant to undertake and satisfy an AFP National Police check and to complete a Health Declaration.

These positions require a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at these levels.


These vacancies are available on an ongoing basis. An order of merit may be established and used to fill similar ongoing vacancies at this level.
