Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) is a company wholly owned by the Australian Government. AHL’s business operations provide a cost effective national network of safe, comfortable, culturally appropriate and affordable accommodation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who need to live away from home to access services and economic opportunity. A Board of Directors appointed by the Minister for Indigenous Affairs is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Company, consistent with the priorities and expectations of the Minister.

As the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) you will also hold the functions of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Company Secretary, and you will work closely with AHL’s CEO and Board of Directors, along with various key stakeholders to build and align current and future business and organisational capability to deliver on strategic goals within well-defined budgets. In managing corporate support functions, you will be focused on adherence to governance, developing an agile workforce, a state-of-the–art property portfolio of hostels, and other corporate services supporting the effective and efficient running of hostel operations across Australia.

You will have a strong commercial focus with significant experience in management of finance, human resources and work health & safety, risk, compliance, ICT, property, security and service delivery as well as providing support to the Board and its key committees.

To be successful in this highly demanding and challenging role, you will be an outstanding leader with extensive relevant experience and demonstrated success in the management of finance, governance, human resources, ICT, property and operations and support of organisations and their Board of Directors. You must demonstrate an ability to engage with stakeholders in developing and implementing key business decisions. Your people focus and sound judgement will be complemented by a high level of business acumen, intellectual rigour, well developed communication skills and a high level of resilience and integrity.
