Job Description

Duties


The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is recruiting approximately 90 graduates to join our 2020 Graduate Development Program. Graduates in the ABS come from a diverse range of disciplines and can work in one of seven streams:

* Economic Analysis
* Population and Social Statistics
* Methodology
* Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
* Corporate (Canberra only)
* Data Science
* Data Acquisition (Geelong only).

All ABS graduates are engaged as permanent employees on successful completion of the Graduate Development Program.

What we offer:

• competitive remuneration package $62,996 (plus 15.4% superannuation) for ICT stream graduates or $57,438 (plus 15.4% superannuation) for all other graduates
• strong emphasis on structured training and personal development opportunities
• on-the-job learning including projects, workshops, guest speakers and work specific events
• advancement after 9 months on successful completion of the program
• most of our successful graduates are offered a position in their ‘home’ state, but we cover your relocation costs if you are required to relocate
• we can usually offer an early start if you are available to commence work before the graduate program officially commences in February 2020
• flexible working conditions with FlexWorks – our program of flexible working arrangements which includes the opportunity to work from home.

 

Eligibility


To be eligible for the 2020 ABS Graduate Development Program you must:

• be an Australian Citizen when you submit your application
• have completed, or expect to complete, within the period 01/01/2015 – 31/12/2019, a minimum qualification of a three year Bachelor degree (recognised in Australia)
• be available to commence the formal program in February 2020.
