Duties


At the ATO, you’ll do work that makes a real difference to the lives of Australians and that contributes to their economic and social wellbeing.

We are seeking human resource (HR) professionals with a record of achievement in the design and delivery of contemporary HR services for large and complex organisations.

As an Assistant Commissioner in ATO People you’ll provide strategic HR advice and maintain a focus on the needs of the business. You’ll collaborate with clients to shape services and solutions in line with the evolving needs of the organisation, and drive excellent customer service to deliver outcomes.

You’ll use data to provide business with the ability to make timely, accurate and evidence based HR decisions. You’ll also leverage data and analytics to help design and implement the HR, talent, leadership and change programs that will enable a high performing and high integrity workforce delivering for now and the future.

You’ll lead diverse teams to deliver strategic HR advice and solutions in any of the following functions:

• people change and the staff experience
• employment policy and industrial relations
• conduct, performance and probation support
• work, health and safety
• integrity
• workforce planning and analytics
• workforce diversity
• performance, rewards and recognition
• HR operations services including payroll and talent acquisition
• learning and development

Our ideal candidate
> has significant experience in leading HR strategy in challenging, complex and fast-paced environments
> has excellent stakeholder relationship skills and the ability to work collaboratively in partnership with business representatives and specialist HR areas to provide an exceptional client experience and deliver contemporary, professional and efficient outcomes
> takes a best practice approach to gathering strategic data and information to shape contemporary HR services and solutions in line with the evolving needs of clients and the broader organisation
> has proven ability to influence outcomes through established HR networks across the organisation
> leads by example and embodies our cultural traits

These roles may be offered as full time or part time on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis in Brisbane CBD, Canberra, Chermside, Melbourne CBD, Moonee Ponds, Newcastle, Sydney CBD or Upper Mount Gravatt.

We offer a competitive total remuneration package (including allowances and superannuation) in the range of $230,246 to $266,374 per annum, depending on experience.
