Duties


The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is a statutory authority within the Australian government portfolio of Communications and the Arts. The ACMA is Australia's regulator for broadcasting, the internet, radiocommunications and telecommunications. It has three principal offices (Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne) and two smaller offices (Lucas Heights and Brisbane). The ACMA is divided into four broad areas, each led by a General Manager. The areas are further divided into branches and sections with specific business functions.

As a Graduate you will be provided with a unique opportunity to develop and build on your graduate skills by engaging in job rotations exposing you to work on a range of projects across a variety of work areas within the ACMA. This might include regulation, compliance, evaluation, research and analysis, project management and a range of enabling service activities.

Under general guidance and direction, you will be responsible for undertaking basic research and analysis, preparing reports and correspondence, and undertaking technical and regulatory work that contributes to a variety of ACMA initiatives to support strategic objectives.

In 2020, the ACMA is seeking graduates for roles that align to the requirements of the agency. We are seeking graduates for the following streams:
• Generalist - humanities (policy), arts, finance, human resources, business administration, IT, economics, research and law
• Engineering (tele communications-related engineering)

Highlights of the program:
• 11 month program – February to December
• Opportunity to experience three rotations throughout the agency
• Targeted suite of learning and development through the Australian Public Service Commission
• Support network – including a buddy and a mentor throughout the program
• An attractive remuneration package, including the progression to an APS 4 on successful completion of the program
 

Eligibility


To be eligible for ongoing employment with the ACMA, applicants must:
• Be an Australian citizen
• Have successfully completed a degree prior to the commencement of the program (Qualifications from overseas universities must be recognised by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition – NOOSR)
• Be willing to undertake and satisfy an AFP National Police Check
• Be willing to complete a Health Declaration
• Be eligible to obtain and maintain a baseline level security clearance

This vacancy has been nominated for filling within the Agency’s graduate program. A graduate program is a structured, on the job program, designed to introduce graduates to an APS organisation. Successful applicants receive training and development, mentoring and on the job support.
