Job Description


Are you a successful takeovers partner or senior legal practitioner who would like to steward the regulation of takeovers in Australia? The Takeovers Panel is seeking a person like you to become the Panel Counsel.

The Panel is a peer review body that regulates corporate control transactions in widely held Australian entities, primarily by the efficient, effective and speedy resolution of takeover disputes. It is recognised for its commercial and pragmatic approach and has played a major role in ensuring an efficient, competitive and informed market for takeovers and other corporate control transactions. The successful candidate will provide in-depth legal analysis and advice to Panel members, including in relation to high profile matters that are often discussed in the financial pages of Australian newspapers.

It is essential that Panel Counsel has a high level of experience in the public mergers and acquisitions area, understanding of the law and policy behind the regulation of takeovers and other corporate control transactions and high level interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to get the best out of a small expert team. The position will be based in Melbourne.
