Job Description

Duties


An interesting opportunity is available in the Decisions Publication Team to work in a strong, supportive team environment and contribute to achieving the tribunal’s strategic objectives.

The Publications Officer edits AAT decisions to remove identifying information in accordance with legislative requirements and Tribunal directions to prepare them for publication. They also assist with the review of relevant procedures and other duties as required.

You will have strong attention to detail and ability to understand and apply legislation, policy and guidelines to edit decisions, prepare catchwords and check material for publication to set deadlines. You are also highly computer literate with the ability to use electronic databases and edit documents using Track Changes in MS Word.

You are also keen to work cooperatively with colleagues in a team environment, possess the flexibility and initiative to respond positively to changing work demands and have proven organisational skills to achieve work targets to deadlines.

Eligibility


The AAT generally requires Australian citizenship as a condition of engagement. All employees who are engaged are required to undertake an Australian Federal Police Check. Employees who are engaged on an ongoing basis are required to undertake a health assessment.

About Administrative Appeals Tribunal 

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) has offices located in all states of Australia and the Australian Capital Territory and provides independent review of a wide range of administrative decisions made by the Australian Government, some non-government bodies and the Norfolk Island Government.

On 1 July 2015 the Migration Review Tribunal, Refugee Review Tribunal and Social Security Appeals Tribunal were merged with the AAT. The amalgamated AAT comprises a number of Divisions: Social Services and Child Support, Migration and Refugee, and General and Other.
