Job Description


The ACMA’s Communications Infrastructure Division carries out a range of functions including spectrum planning, engineering, policy, operations and regulation. The Operations, Services and Technology Branch is part of this division and is responsible for radiocommunications licensing, field operations, compliance and enforcement, and technical regulation.

The Assistant Manager (Senior Technical Officer) role sits within the Compliance and Field Operations Section of the Operations, Services and Technologies Branch. The Compliance and Field Operations team is responsible for delivering interference diagnosis services, and undertaking a range of compliance and enforcement activities aligned with the ACMA‘s Priority Compliance Areas nationally.

The Compliance and Field Operations Section comprises of an EL2 Manager, EL1 Assistant Manager, 13 Field Officers and 6 Compliance Officers located across our ACMA offices based in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

This role will be offered on an ongoing basis.


To be eligible for ongoing employment with the ACMA, applicants must be an Australian citizen.

An applicant's suitability for employment with the ACMA will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process will include a requirement for the applicant to undertake and satisfy an AFP National Police check and to complete a Health Declaration.

This position requires a Negative Vetting level 1 security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at this level.


This vacancy is available on an ongoing basis. An order of merit may be established and used to fill similar ongoing or non-ongoing vacancies at this level.

Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term

for up to 18 months.
