Job Description


The overall objective of Geospatial Solutions is to provide geospatial leadership and capabilities in support of the collection, production, dissemination and integration of geospatial, statistical and other data.

The role of team leader / geospatial analyst within Geospatial Solutions encompasses leading a team and projects to support the research, production, maintenance and publication of geospatial products and solutions for both internal and external clients.

This can include working to support and lead projects in the following work streams:
• geospatial infrastructure
• mapping technology
• population census support
• statistical geospatial frameworks
• Australian Statistical Geography Standard
• geo-statistics and geospatial data integration.

Candidates will be assessed according to a single set of capability requirements, as follows:
• Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills, relating to geospatial data management, production and analysis tasks, including harnessing new opportunities related to geospatial initiatives or data.
• Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for managing and supporting geospatial work projects and people within a small team, preferably with experience in Agile methods.
• Well-developed ability to work independently and within a team on geospatial projects.
• Well-developed, demonstrated ability to communicate, engage and collaborate, across teams and with stakeholders, including the ability to support and communicate strategic directions and priorities.


To be eligible for engagement to the Australian Public Service (APS), candidates must be Australian Citizens.
