The Department is seeking to fill the role of Assistant Secretary Border Intelligence Support to Operations role.

Border Intelligence Support to Operations Branch:

The Border Intelligence Support to Operations Branch is responsible for delivering intelligence support to the Department and Australian Border Force (ABF), through a national network of intelligence analysts integrated in operational teams and task forces. The branch works alongside enterprise-wide functions supporting national operational planning, operational intelligence requirements and collection management, and the 24/7 intelligence input to the Australian Border Operations Centre. The branch is large, geographically dispersed, and operationally complex – addressing the full spectrum of border threats, including people smuggling, and engaging a wide range of clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

The Assistant Secretary Border Intelligence Support to Operations Branch works closely with the Department, ABF and the National Intelligence Community to drive effective collection, production and use of intelligence products and services to support decision making for high-priority Border-related issues. The successful candidate will also be a key member of the Intelligence Division leadership team, driving continuous improvement and helping shape future Home Affairs intelligence capability.

To be a strong contender for this role you will be a skilful communicator, negotiator and leader with personal presence and exceptional stakeholder management skills. You will have a solid record of innovative achievement as a senior manager, with demonstrated high-level ability to drive organisational change, lead large or complex organisations, engage effectively with your peers and the executive, build and maintain high performing teams, shape strategic thinking and develop innovative solutions as well as display personal drive and integrity. You will have a strong understanding of the National Intelligence Community, and the role of intelligence in supporting operational customers.



The successful candidate must be an Australian citizen, successfully undergo the Department's Employment Suitability Clearance process and must establish and maintain a security clearance at a minimum level of Top Secret/Positive Vetting
