Job Description

Duties

As the First Assistant Director-General Protect, Assure and Enable you will lead the Australian Signals Directorate’s (ASD) Protect, Assure and Enable Division to deliver the Australian Cyber Security Centre’s (ACSC) vision to make Australia the safest place to connect online.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Head ACSC (a Deputy Director-General within ASD) to steer the division responsible for the ACSC’s technical and program leadership in the ACSC. The position will establish the ACSC as the peak technical cyber security authority for Australia, and proactively reduce cyber security risk for internal and external stakeholders through capability, programs, advice and assistance.

The role requires a demonstrated ability to build future organisational capability and anticipate and respond to external drivers which will impact ASD business. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience leading an operational and technical workforce, and the sound judgment to manage competing requirements in an evolving strategic environment. A time of great change and increasing demand for cyber security services, the successful candidate will also have a strong delivery focus with the ability to effectively manage internal and external relationships and expectations of others to achieve outcomes.

The successful applicant will also have the demonstrated ability to operate in accordance with, and actively promote ASD’s values and the Defence Leadership Behaviours, which will continue to be adopted and implemented within ASD. To be a strong contender, you will be self-aware, positive in considering and respecting a diversity of ideas and perspectives, and have the courage to challenge the status quo when it does not serve the required outcome. You will be innovative, consultative, resilient and personally accountable for the quality of advice and the delivery of results.
