About the Fair Work Commission

The Fair Work Commission (the Commission) is the national workplace relations tribunal. It is an independent body with power to carry out a range of functions including:

• providing a safety net of minimum conditions, including minimum wages in awards
• facilitating good faith bargaining and making enterprise agreements
• dealing with applications in relation to unfair dismissal
• regulating how industrial action is taken
• resolving a range of collective and individual workplace disputes through conciliation, mediation and in some cases public tribunal hearings
• functions in connection with workplace determinations, equal remuneration, transfer of business, general workplace protections, right of entry and stand down.

The Fair Work Commission offers the following temporary (non-ongoing) employment opportunities through the temporary employment register:

• APS4 Client Services Representatives in VIC, NSW, QLD, ACT, SA, WA, NT & TAS.
• APS5 Associates in VIC, NSW, QLD, ACT, SA, WA
• APS5 Relief Associate in VIC, NSW, QLD, ACT, SA, WA.
• APS4 & APS5 Research Officers in VIC
• APS4 Case Managers in VIC, NSW, QLD, ACT, SA, WA, NT & TAS

To be eligible for temporary (non-ongoing) employment with the Commission, applicants should:

• Hold Australian citizenship
• Be willing to undergo and satisfy an Australian National Police Check
• Satisfy any mandatory qualification requirements applicable to the position


Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term

Non-ongoing employment opportunities may be offered for varying periods of up to 18 months with a possibility of extension to a maximum period of three years.

The Commission’s temporary employment register will remain active for six months, after which time you will need to renew your registration by re-applying if you wish to stay active.

All registered applicants will receive a renewal registration email reminder.
