Job Description


The Senior Advisor, Information Security Branch, will provide senior leadership and oversight for the ABS' IT monitoring and protective and cyber security sections. The Information Security Branch comprises three sections with over 60 staff responsible for IT Security, Protective Security and IT Environment Management.

You will work with the executive Technology and Security Division leadership team to support the delivery of ABS goals and priorities. You will be accountable for:

•leadership of the security function to ensure high quality security management in support of business goals
•ensuring ABS systems and integrity of data are protected, appropriate security requirements are included in contracts and government policies are implemented
•ensuring the security of personnel, assets and information by sustaining and improving physical and operational security
•ensuring enterprise systems are appropriately managed, monitored and reported on and that change management is effective
•increasing the maturity of the security program using best practice frameworks and models
•building strategic partnerships and engage with customers and stakeholders across the ABS, in Australia and internationally.

You will have an understanding of the statistics and services available from the ABS, an appreciation of the complexities of the ABS environment, and a demonstrated commitment to the Australian Public Service Values. You will lead people effectively, delegate, drive high performance and build the capability of staff.

This role will be located in the ABS Canberra Office and the ABS offers a flexible work environment.
