The Opportunity
We are seeking talented senior Indigenous leaders from the public, private and community sectors to join our executive leadership team. The roles present an exciting opportunity for driven Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander professionals who will bring their intellectual rigour, passion and lived experience to support the Government shape its agenda. Successful applicants are responsible for shaping, driving and delivering outcomes to improve the lives of First Australians, and play a pivotal role in building a responsive and capable workforce.

We currently have two Senior Executive Band 2 and six Senior Executive Band 1 immediate vacancies with an order of merit to be established for roles that become available over the next 12 months across agencies.
As a high order priority and the road to success, you will work collaboratively with diverse talented Indigenous Australians, their organisations and leaders.

Successful candidates will drive implementation of priorities, identify and analyse new and emerging issues, and understand PM&C’s role in setting and delivering strategic directions.

You are a self-aware and experienced leader with high-level analytical skills and are able to inspire teams to experiment and explore possibilities and opportunities. You are able to develop innovative solutions to problems and apply sound judgement to provide well founded advice. You possess nuanced communication skills to influence and navigate multi-dimensional relationships to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

You have a vision and shape strategy for the future while upholding exemplary standards of integrity and professionalism. As part of the senior leadership team, you also work across a Department and the Australian Public Service to provide strategic direction and cohesive leadership.

The occupants of these position is considered an Officer under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and is required to exercise due diligence in complying with their obligations under this Act. They are also required to exercise the appropriate powers, authority, delegations and discretions under the relevant legislation including the Public Service Act 1999 and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.



To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application.

The occupant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline level security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
