Duties


Join a multi-disciplined, complex and diverse organisation that provides Australians with access to social and health payments and services. As a Senior Executive in the Service Delivery Operations Group you will provide strategic advice, expertise and support to deliver customer services on behalf of the government.

It is essential that you have a sound appreciation of contemporary leadership principles and practices. You will need to have an active desire to adopt these in the workplace in a way that establishes strong role models for others in the department.

As the National Manager, Indigenous and Remote Servicing you will:

• Provide expert advice and support across the department regarding the delivery of services and programmes to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, including communication strategies.

There is a preference to base this position in Canberra, other locations may be considered.

As the Service Leader, Northern Australia you will:

• lead community and stakeholder engagement to improve their understanding of departmental services
• assist with the design and delivery of services to the community

This position is based in Darwin.

To be a strong contender for these roles, we are seeking candidates who:

• can show evidence of their strong leadership, collaboration and people development skills
• has extensive experience in the delivery of face to face services, including remote service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians
• can demonstrate a knowledge of and understanding of the issues effecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians
• have the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians
• can demonstrate expertise and experience working in a large, geographically-dispersed and complex organisation
• can develop appropriate strategies in relation to service delivery to aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians

Tertiary qualifications are desirable.

An order of merit may be established to fill other similar roles as they become available within the following 12 month period.

 

Eligibility

You will need to pass our pre-employment screening process which includes a police history check, and where relevant, a working with children and vulnerable people check.

You will also need an Australian Government security clearance, to the appropriate level for the position. This will be arranged for you, if successful.
