Job Description


The Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) promotes an improved workplace relations framework to ensure that building work is carried out fairly, efficiently and productively for the benefit of all building industry participants, without distinction, and for the benefit of the Australian economy as a whole. The ABCC works to achieve this framework by providing assistance, advice and education to the industry; monitoring and promoting compliance with relevant laws; undertaking enforcement activities; using information and analysis to inform decision making.

Reporting to the Manager – HR, the HR Business Partner has a pivotal role to link HR functions to operational and strategic goals. The incumbent partners with managers to establish and implement workforce strategies, and develops human resource policy to enhance organisational capability.

You will work directly with a nominated branch within the agency to ensure a proactive HR service is provided. The incumbent will have a strong HR background to ensure the provision of advice is of a high quality whilst remaining responsive with a keen eye for detail.

Within your designated branch, you will provide pragmatic advice to support employee engagement and performance. The role also guides managers on performance, attendance, learning and development, workplace planning and recruitment.


Australian citizenship is required for employment at the ABCC.

To be eligible for employment all preferred candidates are required to undergo a pre-employment screening. Screening checks include character, security and health clearances. Some positions may require additional checks to be performed and require a security clearance.


Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term

Non-ongoing position will be for 12 months
