Job Description


We are looking for candidates who are interested in providing administrative support to our members and assist in the day-to-day operations of the Queensland Registry.

You will develop a general working knowledge and understanding of the AAT and have, or have a desire to develop experience in a legal work environment. You will perform hearing attendant duties, update information on case management systems and assist with the preparation of orders and decisions.

Importantly, you will have good communication skills and be able to communicate with AAT clients, members, other staff as well as parties to applications and their representatives. You will be mindful of differing client needs and communicate sensitively, with tact and discretion.

To be eligible for employment with the AAT, an applicant must be an Australian citizen.


Applicants must provide a statement addressing the selection criteria to a maximum of two pages.

Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term

This position may be offered for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension of up to three years, dependent upon the AAT's resourcing requirements.

About Administrative Appeals Tribunal 

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) has offices located in all states of Australia and the Australian Capital Territory and provides independent review of a wide range of administrative decisions made by the Australian Government, some non-government bodies and the Norfolk Island Government.

On 1 July 2015 the Migration Review Tribunal, Refugee Review Tribunal and Social Security Appeals Tribunal were merged with the AAT. The amalgamated AAT comprises a number of Divisions: Social Services and Child Support, Migration and Refugee, and General and Other.
