The AFP is seeking a Technology & Operational Services specialist to fill the role of Manager Information Technology Services & Operations. Reporting to the National Manager Technology and Innovation, this role will be responsible for the infrastructure and services operation for the AFP.

The AFP is Australia’s international law enforcement and policing representative with posts in more than 30 countries. The organisation enforces Commonwealth criminal law and protects Commonwealth interests from crime and security threats. AFP’s challenges include counter terrorism, human trafficking, cyber-crime, peace operations, transnational crime and protection of national assets.

The AFP business model explicitly links capability and capacity with the conduct of operations in order to maximise the use of technology, specialisation of resources and manage interdependencies. To ensure the AFP maintains its ability to lead and respond to ongoing changes in the operational and criminal environment, leadership skills across a diverse range of areas are required.

The successful candidate will join the AFP’s senior executive team and therefore must be able to demonstrate a strong record of values-based leadership and contribution to organisational strategy and performance.

The successful candidate will have extensive expertise of the technology landscape, Network, Computer & Storage management, an affinity and passion for continuous improvement as well as knowledge and experience in Infrastructure & Security architecture. They will bring strong delivery management skills and knowledge in on-demand, scalable infrastructure and as-a-service business models.

The successful candidate will be employed on a fixed-term contract (three years plus a one-year extension option).

The location of this position is at AFP Headquarters, Canberra. The successful candidate must be an Australian citizen and be able to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 2 (Top Secret) Security Clearance.
