Job Description

Duties


The ATSB is looking to fill several Transport Safety Investigator (TSI) positions. Successful applicants will hold postgraduate qualifications in a field relevant to the study of human factors issues in transport safety and developed abilities to apply human factors knowledge and principles to the evaluation of work tasks and management systems. Strong research or working background in cognitive psychology, organisational psychology and/or fatigue management will be considered highly desirable.

In addition to relevant qualifications and experience, TSIs must also be able to demonstrate:

• personnel management and leadership skills capable of leading a team of like-minded professionals within a collaborative environment
• analytical and written skills capable of producing a final published transport safety investigation report
• project management skills capable of achieving a defined outcome, with agreed resources within a prescribed time period
• communication and stakeholder management skills capable of professionally representing the ATSB’s interests with a range of government and private sector organisations and the general public
• knowledge of relevant legislation and supporting regulations
• an ongoing commitment to self-development and the maintenance of industry awareness.



 

Eligibility


It is a general expectation that employees of the Australian Public Service (APS) are Australian Citizens or are intending to apply for Australian Citizenship.

You will hold or have no impediments towards obtaining a Baseline security clearance.

You will be required to undergo a number of pre-employment checks, which may include a policy records check and health clearance.


 

Notes


There is potentially positions available in Sydney, Perth and Adelaide.

Please note that these positions will be offered at the APS 6 TSI classification and sit within the ATSB APS 6 to EL2 TSI Broadband in accordance with the ATSB's Enterprise Agreement.
