Job Description


The Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) promotes an improved workplace relations framework in Australia’s building and construction industry. Our goal is to ensure that employers and employees covered by this framework can work fairly, efficiently and productively.

Key laws we work with are the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) Act 2016 (BCIIP Act), the Fair Work Act 2009 (Fair Work Act), the Building Code 2013, the Code for the Tendering and Performance of Building Work 2016 (Building Code 2016) and other workplace relations laws relating to the building and construction industry.

The Planning & Performance group gathers and reports relevant data to support the Commissioner and all operating groups of ABCC. Reporting to the Team Leader Intelligence, the Data Analyst and SQL Developer utilises intelligent technologies to secure, collate, analyse and present data that is critical for policy development. The position will be responsible for producing agency performance reporting, supporting and informing the agency industry intelligence function and administration of case management and performance reporting systems. This includes providing accurate and timely data reports to relevant internal and external stakeholders including, operations, management, annual reports, senate estimates and ministerial reporting.

Key responsibilities of the role include performance reporting, reviewing work practices, identifying improvements and providing training.

As a senior member of the Planning & Performance Team, the Data Analyst and SQL Developer will demonstrate leadership and encourage positive working behaviours leading by example. The Data Analyst and SQL Developer will fulfil the requirements of an APS 6 as detailed in the Integrated Leadership System.


Australian citizenship is required for employment at the ABCC.

To be eligible for employment all preferred candidates are required to undergo a pre-employment screening. Screening checks include character, security and health clearances. Some positions may require additional checks to be performed and require a security clearance.


Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term

This non-ongoing position will be available for up to 12 months.
