Duties


The Technology and Services Group (TSG) delivers professional, efficient and reliable corporate and enabling services to both the Department of Jobs and Small Business and the Department of Education and Training, as well as other clients. The Group consists of four branches:

• Infrastructure Services
• IT Services
• Customer Services
• Property Records & Procurement

The Branch Manager Infrastructure Services reports to the Chief Technology Officer, the primary role of the branch is to provide the technical infrastructure and IT platforms including hardware, storage, servers, data centre, digital workspace, cyber security and network to support the Department and its clients. The branch consists of approximately 100 staff, with a budget of approximately $6.7 million.

Being a highly motivated leader with exceptional management and leadership skills will allow you to achieve the areas objectives. Your excellent stakeholder management skills will enable you and your team to work across the Group, Cluster, Department and with external stakeholders. These personal attributes will be backed up by relevant IT qualifications from an Australian University or equivalent and a strong track record in delivering large scale IT platforms and investment programs.

The key deliverables of the position include:
• Lead the strategy, planning, development and implementation of ICT infrastructure functions for the department including a cloud computing strategy and secure enclave upgrade.
• Support the Group Manager of TSG in the delivery of an IT investment program including network upgrades and cyber security enhancements.
• Manage the delivery of technology services including private and public clouds, network and gateway, server virtualisation, database, cyber security and IT operations functions.
• Deliver digital workspace and collaboration tools including Microsoft Exchange, voice and contact centres, mobile platforms, remote access and secure enclave.
• Deliver technology infrastructure projects for the Department and customers, common projects include CRM and SharePoint deployments.
• Providing leadership, strategic direction and guidance to your team.

 

Eligibility


Please note, under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency delegate has agreed, in writing.

This is a designated security assessed position. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security assessment at the level.
