Job Description

Duties


As Assistant Director of the CoEATSIS you will lead National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community engagement through development of effective strategy, and support the Director and senior ABS executives undertake engagement on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues.

More specifically this will include:

• leadership of community engagement through targeted partnerships: internal ABS partnerships; external partnerships networks (service delivery networks associated with Prime Minister & Cabinet, Department of Human Services, National Disability Insurance Agency, community owned health networks, community research groups, empowered communities) and the ABS Round Table

• building statistical confidence by empowering communities to use data for planning, understanding and strategy, including the development of key products and appropriately targeted data services

• designing the Return of Information to Community Program using innovative channels and means - including exploring potential outpostings and partnerships

• supporting increased access to and use of ABS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander data by government, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and researchers, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, to empower their planning and decision making

• maintaining relationships with key partners

• managing a team of Engagement Managers and Officers located across multiple locations.

This is an Identified position and requires knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and cultures, as well as the ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
