Job Description


Performance, is responsible for the Quality Agency’s regulatory risk framework and undertaking analysis and performance reporting activities to manage risk, differentiate the performance of services, enhance information for consumers, and promote continuous improvement in service quality.

You will provide support to the Quality Agency by providing accurate, clear and concise information about regulatory performance and risk. You will manage performance reports on the quality of care and services in Commonwealth funded aged care services, by identifying trends and supporting risk-based regulation.

In this role you will:
• Provide expertise in research, analysis and development projects, to enhance use of data and regulatory intelligence in order to improve regulatory practices and processes and target resources to areas of greatest risk.
• Identify, examine, evaluate and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data and present the complex data in an influential and clear manner.
• Undertake work activities with an awareness of their possible impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for the agency/program.
• Ensure in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and Agency guidelines and regulations.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant legislative and reporting requirements, Australian and International standards, quality assurance procedures and best practice models.
• Apply comprehensive work knowledge, precedent and established legislation, policy, procedures and guidelines to situations involving a high level of complexity and sensitivity which require considerable interpretation and analysis.
• Develop and maintain performance reports at sector, service and risks/issues levels to inform internal and external stakeholders, promote consumer choice and support continuous improvement in the quality of care and services by providers.
• Promote continuous improvement against the Regulator Performance Framework, including through periodic audit of the Agency’s quality assessment practices, outcomes and compliance decisions and feedback from the aged care sector via surveys and other methodologies.
• Assist in the development of evaluation measures to inform on outcomes of Quality Agency policy.
• Maintain productive working relationships with the Department of Health and APS data analytics and reporting networks, to build the Quality Agency’s data literacy and access to initiatives in order to develop the Agency’s capability to understand and report on performance.
• Lead and manage the performance and development of staff.
• Actively contribute to the National Leadership team, leadership of the Regulatory Policy and Performance Branch and work collaboratively across the Quality Agency to undertake specific projects that contribute to the Corporate objectives.

Some priorities in the coming year include:
• Developing strategic partnerships to harness expertise and to enhance the Quality Agency’s regulatory data, analytics capability and risk methodologies
• Working with co-regulators to develop and implement options to better differentiate and report on the performance of services, including an enhanced risk framework for regulation of aged care services
• Improving information for consumers on the quality of care and services.


Salary offered will be between $97,391 to $112,975 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.

The role may be located in our Sydney (Parramatta) or Canberra office.
