Duties


The Director, Regulatory Performance, reporting to the Executive Director, Regulatory Policy & Performance, is responsible for ensuring that the Quality Agency’s strategy and operations are informed by regulatory intelligence and performance data.

The Director of Regulatory Performance within the Regulatory Policy and Performance Branch leads regulatory performance monitoring and reporting for the Quality Agency. You will be responsible for the Agency’s regulatory risk framework and oversee a range of analysis and performance reporting activities to differentiate the performance of services, enhance information for consumers, and promote continuous improvement in service quality. The role is also responsible for reporting on the Quality Agency’s accountabilities under the Government’s Regulator Performance Framework.

In this role you will:

• Provide a strategic level of specialist, professional and/or technical expertise in research, analysis and development projects, to enhance use of data and regulatory intelligence in order to improve regulatory practices and processes and target resources to areas of greatest risk.
• Lead activities to identify, examine, evaluate and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data and ensure that performance is reported presented in an influential and clear manner.
• Apply and maintain an extensive understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Agency. Incorporate a comprehensive understanding of the Agency’s impact on the wider political and community context in which it operates, including the aged care regulatory framework and aged care reforms to support consumers to exercise choice in aged care services.
• Provide leadership in implementing and promoting a climate of change and continuous improvement against the Regulator Performance Framework, including monitoring trends in the Agency’s quality assessment practices, outcomes and compliance decisions and feedback from the aged care sector via surveys and other methodologies.
• Address future agency and stakeholder needs when initiating the development of new systems, procedures, policies, methodologies and practices.
• Maintain a high level of knowledge of relevant legislative and reporting requirements, Australian and International standards, quality assurance procedures and best practice models.
• Apply work knowledge, precedent and established legislation, policy, procedures and guidelines to situations involving a high level of complexity and sensitivity which require considerable interpretation and analysis.
• Establish strategic partnerships to harness external expertise and to enhance the Quality Agency’s regulatory data, analytics capability and risk methodologies. Work closely with Department of Health to identify opportunities and access data analytic initiatives.
• Lead and manage the performance and development of staff.
• Plan, monitor and manage the budget for the unit and its projects consistent with the Agency’s strategic objectives.
• Actively contribute to the National Leadership Team, Agency strategic planning and collaborative work across the Agency to support Corporate

Some priorities in the coming year include:

• Developing strategic partnerships to harness expertise and to enhance the Quality Agency’s regulatory data, analytics capability and risk methodologies
• Working with co-regulators to develop and implement options to better differentiate and report on the performance of services including an enhanced risk framework for regulation of aged care services
• Improving information for consumers on the quality of care and services.objectives.
 

Eligibility


Salary offered will be between $117,021 to $137,274 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.

The role may be located in our Sydney (Parramatta) or Canberra office.
