Job Description

Duties


The Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) promotes an improved workplace relations framework in Australia’s building and construction industry. Our goal is to ensure that employers and employees covered by this framework can work fairly, efficiently and productively.

Key laws we work with are the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) Act 2016 (BCIIP Act), the Fair Work Act 2009 (Fair Work Act), the Building Code 2013, the Code for the Tendering and Performance of Building Work 2016 (Building Code 2016) and other workplace relations laws relating to the building and construction industry.

Under supervision, the Administration Officer provides high level support to all staff in the agency. The successful applicant must be able to manage multiple tasks and assist with coordinating activities, often within tight deadlines. Excellent communication and liaison skills are essential and as the applicant will have access to sensitive material they will need to demonstrate strict confidentiality in all aspects of the work. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate initiative in developing procedural guidances within the scope of the position to increase efficiency.
 

Eligibility


Australian citizenship is required for employment at the ABCC.

To be eligible for employment all preferred candidates are required to undergo a pre-employment screening. Screening checks include character, security and health clearances. Some positions may require additional checks to be performed and require a security clearance.

Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term

This non-ongoing position is a 12 month maternity leave replacement.
