Revenue Group

Revenue Group provides advice to the Government on revenue and taxation policy matters.

The work of Revenue Group includes the provision of revenue forecasts and costings of taxation policies, analysis of the economic and social effects of taxation policy proposals, undertaking consultations and advising on taxation policy options, instructing parliamentary counsel on the design of taxation laws and supporting the passage of taxation legislation through Parliament. The Group also contributes to public understanding of revenue matters through contributions to budget and other government publications. The group comprises the Corporate and International Tax Division, Tax Analysis Division, Tax Framework Division, Individuals and Indirect Tax Division, Law Design Office and Board of Taxation Secretariat.

Corporate and International Tax Division

Corporate and International Tax Division provides advice on company tax rate and base issues, resource taxation, finance taxation and international tax issues that predominantly affect large incorporated businesses. The Division seeks to influence international tax policy development through engagement with international forums, most notably the OECD and G20, and maintaining Australia's network of tax treaties.

The Division comprises four units: Large Corporates Unit, Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Unit, Cross Border Taxation Unit and Financial Services Taxation Unit.

About the role

Treasury is looking for a dynamic Senior Executive Band 2 officer to perform the role of Division Head, Corporate and International Tax Division. The SES Band 2 Division Head provides strong leadership of the division (with responsibility for people management) and has an aptitude and enthusiasm to contribute to and drive policy reform.

The successful candidate will have:

• Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of Australia’s Corporate and International Tax systems and be able to lead policy formulation, and provide advice to responsible ministers on company tax rate and base issues, resource taxation, finance taxation and international tax issues, with a whole-of-economy perspective.

• Strong management skills and the ability to drive departmental initiatives as part of the leadership group. They should also be able to represent the Treasury and the Australian Government at a range of forums both within Australia and internationally.

• A demonstrated track record of engagement across government and corporate sectors.
A merit pool may be established from this selection process to fill similar vacancies.

Attributes / Desirable Qualifications / Experience

• Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field including but not limited to: economics; law; public policy; or business and commerce is desirable.

• Extensive work experience in the public or private sector.


Employees of the Treasury are required to be Australian citizens and must hold a current security clearance or successfully complete a clearance prior to commencement.


Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term

This recruitment process is being used to fill both ongoing and non-ongoing positions. Non-ongoing opportunities may be offered for a specified term for an initial period of up to 12 to 18 months with the possibility of extension up to five years.
