Job Description


The duties for the General Manager, People, Culture and Training include:
• Building NDIA’s internal people capability, including a high performance culture focused on exemplary service delivery, ongoing learning, and continuous improvement;
• Ensuring the NDIA’s people have the right capability to achieve its mission;
• Building a disability confident Agency with a learning culture, including the recruitment and retention of people with disability;
• Providing leadership to the HR Operations and People Services Branch, ensuring support for the development and enhancement of NDIA desired culture, status of being a preferred employer of people with disability, and employee relations and workplace support;
• Providing leadership to the People Strategy and Design Branch, ensuring the NDIA workforce is supported through quality and timely delivery of recruitment, and workforce planning and inclusion strategies;
• Developing strategic connections and productive relationships and representing the NDIA in high level discussions and negotiations with key internal and external stakeholders, which may include Commonwealth and State and Territory Governments, and the disability and community sectors;
• Meeting NDIA’s corporate governance obligations, including managing, complying and putting in place appropriate systems to ensure: the probity of all financial transactions in accordance with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, the NDIA financial and HR delegations and associated instructions; and compliance with all relevant legislation including the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and NDIA Enterprise Agreement 2016-19 and associated policies;
• Providing mentoring to senior leaders to ensure they have the necessary supports and guidance, while developing their own leadership capabilities; and
• Promoting workplace practices consistent with NDIA policy and in accordance with Australian Public Service values and leadership behaviours.


This position requires the successful candidate to have (or the ability to obtain) a Baseline security clearance.
