Job Description

Duties


The primary responsibility of an APS3 proofreader is to proofread the decisions and statements of reason of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal in the Social Services and Child Support Division and the Migration and Refugee Division. This involves reviewing the format of the document to ensure consistency of style and font, checking names, dates, spelling, punctuation and grammar are correct and checking that references to legislation and case citations are accurate.

Previous editorial and/or proofreading experience would be highly regarded.

Applicants MUST address each of the selection criteria in 300 words or less for each criterion. In addressing the selection criteria applicants should, wherever possible, provide evidence of their capacity by reference to previous work history, knowledge and experience.

Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term

These positions will be offered as a temporary contract for an initial period of up to 6 months, with a possibility of extension of up to three years.

Should a position become ongoing, then the Order of Merit established through this selection process may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis.

About Administrative Appeals Tribunal 

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) has offices located in all states of Australia and the Australian Capital Territory and provides independent review of a wide range of administrative decisions made by the Australian Government, some non-government bodies and the Norfolk Island Government.

On 1 July 2015 the Migration Review Tribunal, Refugee Review Tribunal and Social Security Appeals Tribunal were merged with the AAT. The amalgamated AAT comprises a number of Divisions: Social Services and Child Support, Migration and Refugee, and General and Other.
