Duties


We are seeking to fill a number of General Manager (Senior Executive Service Band 1) vacancies across the department and establish a merit pool that may be used to fill future vacancies that arise in the next twelve months.

General Managers hold key leadership roles within divisions and the department more broadly. General Managers report to Division Heads who are charged with delivery of initiatives aligned with the agendas of the Australian Government and the associated Ministers and Assistant Ministers.

If successful your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the work of a branch.
• Providing quality advice to senior staff and the executive.
• Leading engagement with key stakeholders and managing relationships with other government agencies and key groups.
• Working within complex legislative frameworks, identifying and considering emerging trends, and developing innovative solutions to associated issues.
• Overseeing projects of high importance and priority.

To be successful in these roles you will have extensive management experience in a senior role and be an influential source of advice. You will be an experienced leader who has a strong customer service focus and an understanding of the factors that impact the work of the department. You will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, be confident and adaptable to change.

An understanding of the critical linkages of the work of the department to the Australian government’s agenda is also required.

Eligibility


Tertiary qualifications relevant to the responsibilities of our divisions and/or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership role.
