• Lead a team delivering an operational function within AFSA’s Insolvency & Trustee Services
• Establish a high performing team with a particular focus on capability building and staff development
• Permanent opportunity based in Melbourne or Hobart

About AFSA
The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) is an executive agency in the Attorney General’s portfolio. We are responsible for the administration and regulation of the personal insolvency system, trustee services and the administration of the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR). We support the flow of capital into the Australian economy and promote transparency and predictability of outcomes within the financial sector.

About the Role
AFSA seeks an Assistant Director, Insolvency & Trustee Services to lead and develop a skilled team responsible for managing complex insolvency matters. You will be responsible for fostering an environment that focusses on delivering excellent client outcomes, drives innovation, and motivates our people to achieve their best. You will ensure effective and efficient service delivery in accordance with established policies, procedures and good governance principles. You will be joining a collaborative and high performing team within a major operational division of AFSA.

• Lead a skilled team that manage complex cases and insolvency matters
• Establish, develop and maintain a high performing and engaged team
• Provide technical insolvency guidance and direction to the team
• Analyse and resolve complex case related issues and enquiries
• Develop business processes with a focus on client centricity and effective business outcomes
• Manage operational risks and report on compliance and quality frameworks
• Build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder/client relationships
• Assess, approve and issue insolvency related applications

About You
• Strong insolvency experience or excellent legislative interpretation and application skills
• Able to lead teams and achieve business outcomes
• Ability to collaborate and engage with internal and external stakeholders
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• An accounting, law, business or equivalent tertiary qualification
• Professional membership with CPAA, ICAA or similar bodies will be well regarded
